Jack Slater, Freelance Monster Investigator teams up with Cherry Jackson the Official Monster Investigator, and Bernard the Monster Informer to foil a monster invasion of Downing Street. The story reaches a satisfactory conclusion with a hint that the world may need to be saved from monsters again in the future. This is an imaginative, fast moving, action-packed, night-time, detective adventure.

This book deserves tremendous success. The story is easy to follow and is well-constructed. Interest is maintained with lively dialogue, vivid descriptions and unpredictable events. The surprising link between spoilt Clyde and Bernard the Informer is an unexpected twist in the plot. There are good black and white illustrations which complement the text. This is a book in which children will become engrossed and have them laughing and entertained right to the very end.
