This is the fourth book of short stories about the Quigley family, although it stands alone as an entertaining read for those who have yet to make their acquaintance. The Quigley parents are delightfully dippy: not quite grown uo themselves, bordering on eccentric, but with enough grip on reality to provide love and security to young Will and Lucy. The humour contains a touch of slapstick that will appeal to young readers and a more subtle, witty subtext for adults, which makes this a good book for sharing with a newly independent reader.
