Half Moon Investigations is about a thirteen year old boy, Fletcher Moon, who is a private investigator. He has solved mysteries before (like who stole his toys) but has always been keen to tackle a real mystery. One day, someone asks him to find a pop star's lock of hair, which a friend bought on e-Bay - it turns out to be much more than that.
Fletcher believes that the Sharkeys, who are the biggest crime family in the town, stole the lock of hair. This development leads to a fast complicated story which includes Fletcher being beaten up by a mysterious man, finding the letters R E D on his arm when he wakes up in hospital (which leads him to Red Sharkey) and being framed for setting fire to a Wendy house.
I can recommend this book for eleven year olds who are able to understand some quite complicated and difficult words. It is very exciting and nerve-racking right to the last page. When I got to the last few chapters I could not put the book down. It was great!
