Absolutely brilliant! This story is for quite young readers and in fact all children who, for whatever reason, don't belong to a library. As an adult, I was thoroughly amused and couldn't put the book down for any reason; it would make a wonderful film! The illustrations by Tony Ross are superb and contribute mightily to the feeling of the story.
The main character is a bored, harassed boy from a large family who is taken to the local library, with one of his brothers, by their mother who wants to entertain and educate two of her large brood during a school holiday. They are old enough to spend some time at the library on their own without getting into trouble!! Read on! The story has a heartwarming ending and one which should especially please all library staff and parents alike.
