The blurb states.." a world which is dark, dangerous and exciting" - it most certainly is!
The story is set in Cornwall, which is vividly described and takes place in real time but concerns the relationship between the "Mer", (mermaids and mermans) and people of the "Air", (humans).
Two children are trying to come to terms with the death of their father and during the denial and grieving process discover the world beneath the sea. This world, "Ingo" becomes very dangerous and exciting and creates a tug of war for the children between the two worlds.
During this time, the children and their mother find out a great deal about their relationship to one another and people around them.
This story is excellent, fast paced but so real that the reader is left with more than a doubt or two about the possibility that Ingo exists!
It ends satisfyingly and, perhaps, lends itself to a sequel?
